If you want it…
Sometimes you want to create something you believe in (or that just seems cool), so you spearhead your own projects. With my eclectic collection of experiences— including directing, composing, teaching college courses, and devising my own studio and its curriculum—it felt natural to step into the roles of creator and leader. And isn’t most good leadership creative? So, I have a few performing-adjacent roles to add to my resume: CEO of Stage Presence, Executive Producer of a new immersive musical project (still-to-be-named), and Co-writer and Producer for a new musical, RUN.
…Create the shows you want to experience.
The immersive musical experience will center around the experiences of three women of Greek mythology: Daphne, Medusa, and Cassandra. I will be collaborating with composer Alex Winkler and filmmaker Lizz Marshall. Watch this space for promo material, expected to drop in April.
RUN, a new musical, presents a world that’s part X-men and part Handmaid’s Tale. It centers on the experience of a young woman searching for family and discovering her own strength—but at a price. With the book complete and the libretto and music currently at 60%, my collaborator, Jeff Kimball, and I are aiming for a public reading in Fall 2022.
…Solve the problem yourself.
Now, if you’re a business, especially a business that has work-from-home employees, or a performative artist, you’ll want to check out Stage Presence. Founded in March 2020 in the emergence of COVID-19, Stage Presence filled a need for suddenly out-of-work artists and work-from-home employees. It continues to thrive as a service that connects artists to companies for livestream performances, and keeps employees connected and happy and puts well-deserved money in the pockets of artists who must navigate the ever-changing landscape of a pandemic-shaped world. I work with an incredible team of women who know the ins and outs of the industry.
