SHARING MUSIC AND MOVEMENT.
I believe that sharing my knowledge and skillset with others is just as important as sharing it onstage. And while I believe structured, measurable growth is essential, I believe that it will look different for every developing artist. The way people communicate, learn, and experience the world around them informs my ‘curriculum’ just as much as their goals. Every artist’s journey looks different, and I truly enjoy guiding my students and creating opportunities that stretch their limits.
I teach private, semi-private, and group lessons for voice and dance, as well as stage combat/fight choreography workshops. I also choreograph bespoke dances for special events like weddings. Check out more about my voice studio below.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING.
“Alyssa is a wonderful teacher - supportive, kind, and demanding. I have always felt safe to experiment and push myself, and also to ask for help no matter how stupid my questions were. I would recommend her, without reservation, to anyone regardless of skill level.”
—Holly D.
“Ms. Weathersby is a very strong technique teacher. She personalized my daughter’s lessons according to her strengths and weaknesses and gave her confidence in her voice. My daughter loved her lessons because Ms. Weathersby is very motivating. She goes the extra mile to ensure her students have every opportunity to excel and perform. I would recommend this teacher to any age interested in quality voice lessons.”

“I took voice lessons with Alyssa over the past year, and absolutely loved the experience. Alyssa is nice, easy to work with, and I had a lot of fun while learning. During lessons she was very patient, and knew quite a few tricks to change my perspective or teach concepts. I highly recommend her for anyone looking for a voice teacher!.”

WHAT ARE VOICE LESSONS LIKE?
My voice lessons develop the vocal and performance abilities in students of any age. I focus on healthy technique in classical, musical theatre, and popular styles. The first half of lessons typically center on technique (both for overall growth and targeted skills) and the second half of lessons are generally focused on a student’s individual musical repertoire. I am happy to help students meet particular goals like auditions, competitions, or performances. Since every voice is different, I tailor lessons to fit each student's needs.
MY PHILOSOPHY:
The human voice is complex and immensely expressive. Helping each student craft their best sound, ultimately, creates meaningful communication through aural art. My responsibility to each student is to hone their unique voice by removing the technical and mental barriers to their success.
MY CREDENTIALS:
I hold a Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy (New England Conservatory ) and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance (University of Houston). At the New England Conservatory of Music, I studied under Dr. Ian Howell and focused on issues at the intersection of women’s health and the singing voice, which drastically shaped my approach to performance and teaching. I did a deep dive into the relationship between hormones and the voice, which informs so much of our vocal health, yet is often overlooked. I have successfully presented vocal research to the greater scientific community, and continue to develop my own technical and theatrical skills to benefit my students. I’ve become obsessed with building resilient, healthy voices—of all types.
