Alyssa has written and composed various pieces, including a chamber opera (Odysseus Below) and incidental music and suite for an original play (Ilium) that both premiered in Houston. She is a member of Maestra, an organization and movement that supports and promotes equal opportunity to address the many historical disadvantages and practices that have limited women and nonbinary composers and musicians in the musical theater.

Alyssa is currently working on three separate projects: two co-written full-length musical theatre pieces, and a historically based operatic libretto.
